The Classic Ragtime Society's primary purpose is
to promote and keep alive, through education and live performance, an
appreciation of the wonderful world of classic ragtime music, circa 1890-1920.
Our headquarters are in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
Heading the list of composers of that era are Scott Joplin, James Scott, and
Joseph Lamb. There are, of course, many other noted composers from that period,
as well as many fine composers of contemporary ragtime music. Musicians are
currently performing ragtime music at various festivals and concerts throughout
the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Our Society is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We
depend on membership fees, festival and special concert ticket sales, and contributions
from people who appreciate ragtime music and wish to help preserve it.
For more information about the Society, please feel free to use information
shown in the Contact Us section.
Come join us and meet other ragtime enthusiasts, enjoy Hoosier hospitality and
help keep this special music alive and well.
